At the Greenup Learning Center, Job Readiness classes are offered quarterly. Students learn topics ranging from test-taking skills, reading/writing/math, resume and job search, to interview skills. Each class is different and only students with the required attendance/participation can graduate. Current and/or former JRA students are encouraged to comment on their thoughts regarding the class. Feel free to blog about the class to inform others on what it is like!
How will the GED test changing affect our students? Time will tell. As an instructor who went through the last GED revamp, I think this one will depend on individual attitudes. I feel like the younger generation that is already attached to and dependent on technology, will do fine on the new GED-possibly even better! Many of our students that have learning disabilities (or different learning styles) could possibly soar through the new computer-based version. The students that will struggle I think will be the ones that are very uncomfortable using a computer, or maybe who have vision problems when reading from a monitor screen. I am excited to see the changes come January, and hope to see many of our past students come back to try testing in a new way. What do you think about the new changes for the 2014 GED? |
